Where Science Rocks!

Welcome to the Weis Earth Science Museum —

the Official Mineralogical Museum of Wisconsin

The Weis isn’t your grandfather’s museum full of dusty old glass cases — although we’ve got some really old stuff here!

Imagine a museum where you can make an earthquake, walk through a mine tunnel, shoot off a quarry blast, touch a dinosaur bone, and make it rain!

That’s the Weis!

And everyone — from the advanced collector to the youngster who just started picking up rocks — will be amazed at the marvelous minerals and fabulous fossils on display, too.

While you’re having lots of hands-on, interactive fun, you’ll discover that there were once volcanoes, mountains and tropical reefs right here in Wisconsin.  In fact, you’ll learn that every rock tells a story, and you can read them yourself!

The Weis Museum will be closed
Sunday, April 1, 2018.
Have an egg-citing Easter holiday!

On Monday, come into the museum to see some of our eggs--
the dinosaur variety!
Picture
With her lovely bunny ears, Veronica is one "hoppy" dinosaur!

The basket of eggs reminds her to tell you about the spectacular nest of real dinosaur eggs we have at the Weis. Come visit them during spring break!
